Nathaniel's daughters, Elizabeth and Ann, married Robert H. Hardaway, a cotton dealer, and John M. Tison, a merchant, respectively. Both families corresponded with Nathaniel. His youngest son, George, married into the Richard family of Florida and Georgia; George and Ginny Richard ran a Thomas County plantation in the second half of the 19th century.
